Hi Steve,
I have been reading a lot lately. I have a book club I go to once a month and a mother daughter one with Laila that's three months old now. But, I won't recommend any of the book club books of late (well Laila and I read To Kill a Mockingbird which I read so long ago that it seemed new and it was amazing).
I LOVE
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins
One Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan
Any of the Roald Dahl books that are for adults
Also, I'm reading books by David Sedaris now borrowed from a friend and they are hilarious.
Hope you had a great weekend everyone!
Lisa, Amman
Hi from Mom! For books you love, you mentioned 100 Secret Senses by A. Tan --What is it about? I have quite a few books I want to read now, including The Lazarus Project which you gave me. You know how book club books really take up a person's time. Doesn't leave time for reading much else. Have a good day! Love and kisses, Mom
ReplyDeletefor junior fiction, I recently "read" by listening on CD to "The Higher Power of Lucky" by Susan Patron and Matt Phelan. It's about a girl(10 year old Lucky) in the desert area: Hard Pan, California, who cleans up around the museum/meeting area where many anonymous meetings are held (alcoholic, smokers etc) and as she eavesdrops she hears about them counting on a higher power, so she seeks hers. Her mom recently died and her guardian is French Brigitte, who she is anxious will leave her. she has one friend who ties knots all the time, and a little boy who pesters her. One day she runs away in the midst of a sandstorm... 2006 newberry award winner. I had some good laughs with this:)
